Stinky pits
Or
Why do I feel so old

Theres this new guy on my crew. A kid really. His names Chris and at his college he's going to be a junior, next year. He's a pretty cool guy and just 20 years old so I've got like 10 or 11 years on him, but we get along pretty well.

So, anyway we were hanging out on the top deck of our boat the other day, just talking, waiting to get to port so we could do our thing.
It had been a pretty busy day, and we had been working like ten hours or something. It was also kind-a warm and humid.

Can you see where I'm going with this?

While we were talking I put my hands up on top of my head to kind of stretch out my arms and... ooofff... what a stink. I was riper than day old meat in the sun.
I kinda grimaced, and said something to the effect that I stank like the dead. Chris being a fellow male, gave his own pits an obligatory sniff, and declared things all clear.
He said "I dont ever really get stinky. Even when I'm working hard and sweating."
I said "Oh, you just wait a couple of years, youll start to stink up good. And right through your deoderant too."

That sort of made me realize that I wasnt always a stinky guy. Only like the last five or six years.
What the hell happened? Is it because I'm getting older?
Hell, all through high school and college I never even wore any deoderant. And I got plenty sweaty back then too. Hiking, mountain biking, skiing, etc. etc.

What gives? Will I just keep getting stinkier and stinkier, until I become a stinky old man?
How depressing...

Also this guy Chris bounds around the boat, jumping from bulkhead to bulkhead and swinging under the railings like some kind of ocean-going orangutan. When I follow him, its always at a much slower pace, and with a lot of oofing and uhhing... Christ, I feel like a decrepit old man next to this guy and I'm only 30.

Its all downhill from here isnt it?
You can tell me, I can take it...
